Activating and extending your strategic network
Networks can open doors and broadcast your message. Personal contact and Social Media get you in touch with decision-makers, potential partners or customers, but even more importantly, they build relationships. Networks allow you to achieve a more comprehensive offering and greater impact. Most people recognize the need for a network and would like to improve its quality. But: what qualities does a network actually need to be most impactful? Surprisingly, networks with like-minded people are usually not the most effective. Weak connections have been shown to have the greatest potential in many situations. Lack of time and know-how are the most common reasons people don’t invest in a strategic network.
Let’s have a chat:
The two big misconceptions about networks are:
1. Good networks arise spontaneously
The problem with this view is that it is essentially passive. ‘Spontaneous’ networks consist of people you are already familiar with. Such a network will almost never have the reach to be useful in broadcasting a new offering or value proposition.
2. The best network is the one with the closest confidants
This network is certainly very important, but numerous studies show that most jobs are found through less strong connections. This is not because friends do not want to help you, but because they usually have the same information as you do. Lesser known acquaintances can build bridges to people and organisations we do not know.
We can help you activate and expand your network so that your objectives are heard, shared and passed further on.
